The Great Price of Extreme Beauty: My Salutations to Parveen - TopicsExpress

The Great Price of Extreme Beauty: My Salutations to Parveen Babi Below are two videos of Parveen Babi, probably 20 years apart. Maybe 30. In the first, shes her stunning best, her face is flawless. The proportions of her face were all in alignment with the golden ratio (1.618). Her nose is exquisite. That, alone, could launch a thousand ships. She had a face as breath-taking as all that, that was achieved when there was no botox or fillers. If I could invent a time-machine, one of my first destination-periods would be 1973, to study her face, look for flaws, if any. She was no great actress though. Her fame was simply her face. Her dancing skills were even worse. Her movements were staccato, as can be seen in the first clip. The video itself is silly, but it must be understood in context of the era it came from. However, she secretly suffered from paranoid schizophrenia, remnants of which can be seen in the second video, some 30 years later. Shes aged terribly, bloated, and blithers in a very polished, crisp English about some conspiracies against her. She also disses the Bachchan quite a bit (heresy). Its quite a sad tale. None of the men of her life chose to marry her, notably, Danny Dengzompa, Kabir Bedi or Mahesh Bhatt. Her body was found rotting in a flat in Juhu, I think, nobody wanting to claim her. My mum made me watch the second clip, of the interview with Shekhar Suman, on TV. (This was to show me that everyone ages and its time to stop being fussy.) Of course, I have my own mind, and it cant be swayed. But, in my mind, Parveen Babi, circa, the 1970s, remains Gods magnum opus. m.youtube/watch?v=-KgeYnMFBAU m.youtube/watch?v=znDwCIKYjcU
