The Home Touch By Pastor Thad Stewart Hello everyone, and welcome to another edition of the Home Touch. It seems like forever since I personally have last written to you. I hope this letter finds you all well. I want to show you something in the scriptures today that I believe has the power to bring an absolute breakthrough for someone. Often times in life we can feel as though we are stuck in between where we are right now… and where we want to be. There is nothing more frustrating than to feel as though you can’t go forward. There have been many times when I have felt this way. I have learned that when I can’t push ahead, I certainly don’t have to go backwards… which is just what most people do. They move back into the old habits and behaviors that got them into the situation they are in to begin with. Whenever you feel stuck in a place… where there is no forward motion, you need to stay put, and trust that God is in the process of doing something in your life. You need to realize that you have been given a powerful tool. It’s not anything that youre going to find at your local shopping center. You won’t find it in the Sears catalogue. It’s a tool that was given to you when God created you. It’s the power of choice. You alone hold this powerful tool on your hand. You alone are the only one that’s able to use it. I can’t use my choices for you… and you can’t use your choices for me. But we can use them for ourselves and here’s the thing…. No one can stop you for making your own choices. You do need to realize that the choices you make are your own… and each choice comes with a consequence. So we need to learn to make the right choices. Choosing to do the right thing is not always choosing to do the easiest thing. But… if you make the right choices, you have done well. Our scripture today is found in 2 Kings7:3-5. 3- “ And there were four leprous men at the entering in at the gate; and they said one to another, why sit we here until we die?” 4- “ If we say, We will enter into the city, then the famine is in the city, and we shall die there; and if we sit still here, we die also. Now therefor come, and let us fall unto the host of the Syrians: if they save us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall but die.” 5- “ And they rose up[ in the twilight, to go unto the camp of the Syrians; and when they were come to the uttermost part of the camp of Syria, behold there was no man there.” If you go on ahead in the reading you will find that God had already worked a miracle on their behalf; and on behalf of Israel. The Syrian camp was full of food, and there was a great famine in the land. God had made the Syrians hear the noise of chariots, and they fled for their lives, leaving behind the food that would sustain Israel. These four lepers had walked right into the blessing of God…. All because of a choice. These four men were faced with a problem. Actually they had two very big problems. 1- They were lepers. Leprosy was an incurable disease. People feared leprosy so much that if you had it you were cast out of the city to fend for yourself. 2- There was a famine in the land. So even if there was food in the city, they being social cast outs, wouldn’t be allowed into the city to get to the food. Sound familiar? This is what it looks like to be stuck. No forward motion. Stuck. What stands out to me; and what I want to share with you is this. They said among themselves… ( verse 3 ) “Why sit we here until we die?” You see… they realized that they had a problem, but they also realized they had a choice. This where today’s message gets on a personal level. Just realizing that there is a problem won’t do you a bit of good unless you are willing to make a choice and do something about it. You can’t wait around hoping that someone make your choices. You can sit here until you die… or you can do what these men did and rise up and go. They made a choice to do something…. And God blessed them for it. You have the same ability today. You might not be a leper living in a famished land but, - sin has caused you some big problems. - some of the other choices you’ve made has left you feeling like an outcast. - bankruptcy looming over your head like a lead balloon. - broken relationships have left you to believe that you can’t trust anyone ever again. Whatever your situation is friend… you have the power to sit here until you die; or you can make a choice to do something about it. Here’s the good news… The same God that blessed these men and all of Israel is the same God that can and will bless you. Will you make that choice friend? Christ died and resurrected, so that you could have life; and have it more abundantly. He waits for you as you read this with outstretched arms saying, “ Come unto me…. I will give you rest.” The choice is yours. I pray you make the right one. God bless you all, Pastor Thad Stewart.
