The Queen Mary. A one of a kind maritime treasure. The only - TopicsExpress

The Queen Mary. A one of a kind maritime treasure. The only ship of her class spared the scrappers torch. Shes the only liner left from the romantic Transatlantic period. With such fine and exotic woods and materials, she stands as a sentinel of a bygone age. Last night, walking along the promenade deck on the port side, towards the final moments of the PJ party, trying not to pay too close attention to the Mickey Mouse mounted desk fans adorning her rafters, they were piping in some lovely 30s era orchestra music. Much the same type you hear in early 30s films. Not Jazz, not Swing, but the type that youd hear in Dinner at Eight and such. I looked around and as that melodic music echoed down the Prom deck, the ship seemed want nothing more than to shake like a wet dog drying its self after a bath... As if shes just as upset about the fans as I am... I dont mean to cast aspersions on any ones taste or what others feel is fun but, this poor Queen is inundated with sports in the Observation Bar, slovenly clad tourists and questionable types leaving their marks on bathroom mirrors and toilet seats. And the management affixing wrought-iron gates to close off sections where they wish not the public to venture. And the poor, poor fist class pool continues to decay because, they want it to appear spooky for their Dark Harbor sins against history tours. I love the Queen Mary... I can barely stand to look at another coat of white latex brushed over more rust fatigued metal. Shes been getting more attention as of late, which is praise worthy, yet its not enough. Be well our Queen, hopefully there is a port in your future thatll have the capital to return you to your original grandeur.
