The Reaching Toward the Future Internship Program was developed - TopicsExpress

The Reaching Toward the Future Internship Program was developed by the AACUC to promote: 1) awareness of the Credit Union Movement, and 2) opportunities for African American college students to experience the benefits of working in a credit union environment. The goal is to ultimately encourage and recruit qualified African American college graduates to the movement. Since 2000, the AACUC and partner credit unions has hired and mentored 361 students from 43 colleges and universities 17 states. This experience has made a positive impact in the students’ lives by giving them an opportunity to work in a professional environment and exercise real-life on-the-job skill training. Former intern with MECU in Baltimore, Marquell Coleman puts her experience this way, “Being a part of the AACUC Internship Program has given me tremendous insight into the work world and what is expected of and from me, as a person and then as an employee.” For more information on the African American Credit Union Coalition Internship Program, please visit our website at aacuc.org or call Tracey Jackson, Program Manager at 443-263-4294 or Adrian Johnson, Internship Co-Chair at 410-223-4032.
