The Royal Visit to the palliative care hospice in Manly on Good Friday 18 April 2014 was of special importance to the Duchess of Cambridge. She is royal patron of East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices in the UK and made a point of visiting Rainbow Place, a similar facility in NZ. Prime Minister Tony Abbott, his wife Margie and new NSW Premier Mike Baird welcomed the couple to Bear Cottage, one of only two children’s hospices in Australia. The other is Hummingbird House in Brisbane. illawarramercury.au/story/2227370/royal-tour-2014-duke-and-duchess-of-cambridge-visit-bear-cottage/?cs=300
