The Science of Mind...Managing Our Dreams.. The test of the artist does not lie in the will with which he goes to work, but in the excellence of the work he produces. — Thomas Aquinas As keynote speaker for the art students graduating from the University of Western Australia, actor, comedian, musician and Tony Award-winning lyricist for the Broadway hit musical, “Matilda,” Tim Min chin shared nine life lessons. The first one was that having a dream can be a good thing but is not really necessary. Instead, he encouraged the graduates to be “passionately dedicated to the pursuit of short term goals, be micro-ambitious, put your head down and work with pride with whatever is in front of you.” I recently watched one of the judges on a network singing talent show offer very similar advice to one of the show’s contestants when they talked about their dream of stardom. The judge’s advice: “Work on your craft, sit at a piano and develop your ear, expose yourself to great music and musicians and work on developing your talent. If stardom is part of that, then great. But your opportunity, and where I recommend you place your focus, is on continuing to develop your gift and talent.” The transformation of consciousness requires the same micro-ambition: to climb into our prayer chair, invoke the presence of Spirit, meditate daily to lift the fog of confusion, provide compassionate service in our homes and communities, and practice forgiveness daily. These are our micro-ambitious spiritual tools and practices that assist us in nurturing and supporting a world that works for everyone! God reveals Himself to us, but only by revealing himself through us. Affirmation... Today, I do whatever is before me with excellence. I discover something new about myself. I know working with pride with is an amazing opportunity to allow God to express through me....And So It Is...
