The Southeast Tennis and Learning Center Interior Courts structure - TopicsExpress

The Southeast Tennis and Learning Center Interior Courts structure has topped out! Our project, for the Department of General Services, is the modernization of the existing Southeast Tennis and Learning Center in Washington DC. The ceremony’s key speakers were: Mayor Vincent C. Gray; Director of the Department of General Services, Brian J. Hanlon; Ward 8 Council Member, Marion Barry, Jr.; Cora Masters Barry; Chancellor of DC Public Schools, Kaya Henderson and Lyndrea Price, sister of Serena & Venus Williams. The Interior courts were worked on during summer so the exterior courts could still be used in nice weather. The second phase will be the upgrading of the outdoor courts during winter. The existing facility was constructed in 2001 and is approx. 43,000 sq. feet. The modernization includes indoor & outdoor upgrades including 6 new covered indoor courts, 6 new outdoor courts, and 1 new outdoor synthetic clay court. Sports lighting will be installed on all courts. The facility renovations include expanding the warming kitchen, creating a new conditioning room and a new pavilion and creating a new conference/classroom. Phase 1 is due to be fully completed this winter 2014 and the outdoor courts and playground will be ready by July 2015.
