The USDA sponsored Pakistan Agriculture and Cold Chain Development (PACCD) project is helping increase incomes of farmers and fishermen in Baluchistan. The project helps farmers improve yields, market their products, and store their fruit in new cold storage facilities. Fishermen are benefitting from new ice machines, access to markets in Karachi, and training about how to hygienically clean fish provided by the PACCD. Both farmers and fishermen are gaining access to capital as well. This week, the project opened a branch of the Tameer Bank at Gwadar to serve fishermen in the area.
