The average Salary for an LIRR worker is $87,000.. The LIRR are the highest paid transit workers in the country. The MTA offered a 17% raise over seven years, no work rule changes, except, New employees pay 4% towards their healthcare and pension. Thats peanuts. Now, 4% is nothing for you and I towards our healthcare and pension costs. But the union is greedy. SO they want to threaten all the commuters with a strike. Hard working people who need to get to work cause they dont want to pay anything towards their OWN healthcare and retirement. So much for the champions of the middle class. They are the champions of themselves.
