The challenges are now up for the Space Apps Challenge - Im debating between a few of them: 1. https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/challenge/asteroid-prospector/ - I think Id approach this as a text based web game similar to the old DOS/C64 game ISLAND. In that game, you had to survive life on an island with very limited resources and had to collect water [which would sometimes work, sometimes not], fish [you had to cast your reel just right by picking a number between 1 and 10; problem was, 1 to 10 didnt always land in the same spot], send out a message in a bottle, and try to collect parts for a raft [by swimming among sharks to try to get a piece of wood - you could get eaten with 1 shark, and you might survive with 10 sharks.] If you were lucky, you got off the island. If you werent lucky, you dehydrated, ran out of food, were eaten by a shark, or a tropical storm killed you. Im sure I could easily clone some of that fun into this challenge. Maybe I can mix some of that up with CROSS COUNTRY CANADA... I guess thats why this is marked as EASY 2. https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/challenge/space-mission-roadmap/ - This would be one I could work with one of my CMS friends with to quickly create something for tracking all of the different missions and getting it in the system easily. I think it would have to be a mix of a traditional CMS and a Wiki in order to handle this well. 3. https://2014.spaceappschallenge.org/challenge/alert-alert/ = Id want to work with somebody whose Objective-C was a little better than mine on this one. I could create a fair amount of the backend, but would have problems doing the front-end pieces. Id probably want a good 4 person team to do this well. Feel like joining me (or having me join you)? Let me know which challenge youd like to do and where your skills are. I have a fair amount of knowledge in SQL, Web Servers, C# , and a basic amount of knowledge in a wide variety of other languages. My day job involves a large amount of IT Infrastructure, Application Design, Research and Project Management. Although Im pretty good with UI, Id much rather leave it to an actual designer when available.
