The concept of a mole has to do with the number of C-12 carbon elements that maximally fit in 12 grams. The power of moles in doing chemistry calculations is the power of defining a standard set upon which variance can be. If theres a lesson here, its that neutrality is absolutely necessary for any kind of system to be formed. How that neutrality resolves itself into a series of consistencies has to do with first picking a (series of) metric(s) and then noting how that measurement in its contingency creates a constant. Constants then, can be understood as the fundamental difference between different metrics, such as the Faraday constant (number of electrons in a mole). This is already sounding circular, but the formation of constants has to do with the remainder of how unit-hood is derived between metrics... which is why many constants are expressed in terms of their consistencies as a/b, which non-coincidentally is also the definition of what rational numbers are... which strangely enough, rely on two varying discrete values in order to support the expression of a discrete value (discrete here, being exchangable with determinate... should we also then understand that determinacy in the triad order of the positions of being: less-than-nothing, subject and object with zizek; or badiou-ian, varience, being and Being?). Penultimate constants include pi, e, and the golden mean, which is expressed in the fibonacci series. If we understand that the constraints upon how we as human beings intuitively understand (and co-inhabit) our environment also formulate how we measure, the constants that we find most useful must also be a reflection of our invariance in psycho-somatic construction... not as a matter of (necessarily) biology or neurological structure but more by being how we are in the universe that we are.
