The easiest way to realize that Jameis is as bad of an egg as Aaron Hernandez is simply to contrast his behavior with the other 99% of the team. There are a LOT of dumb kids on every college football team, and yet all of them figure out (immediately) how to keep their heads down. To me the most amazing thing to watch is how people warp their perception of Winston around the pleasure of feeling like winners every Saturday. If he didnt provide them with the feeling that they are awesome, they are winners, they are good and right, if Jameis was just, say, another black man from the South, they would lock him up and throw away the key just for existing. But that feeling: God its so good, and they love it so much. They love it at church on Sunday, and when they complain about Rick Scott or Obama or whatever. That righteousness is a drug more seductive, dangerous and hallucinatory than any other, and the schlubs just line up behind every cause or movement or ideology, cash in hand, licking their lips for more, please. And when they dont have it, boy do they feel lost. And when they find it again, boy do they feel saved. (Those ones who had it election night 2008 must be jonesing like crackheads these days lol.) Interestingly, there is a healthy version of this drug that can only be found from personal ethics and action (doing something in this world). But that version is way harder to get than the one that comes with being oh-so-sure that George W Bush or the Gators or homos are terrible.
