The first thing I saw as my eyes opened was grey. In my confusion I thought maybe I was in the hangar, hadnt the roof been cement? As another shiver made the world around me shake I sat up wrapping my arms around my shoulders. Grimacing I rubbed my hip bone, was that dent and twinge from a stone? I rubbed my eyes and then the memory of the night before came back full force to smack me right in the middle of my forehead along with the dull throb of a headache. It must have rained during the night leaving everything soaked, which included the blanket and our clothes. Lifting both hands to my hair I patted it like a caveman might when discovering a tortoise for the first time, ‘was that a rock? No, it moved, oh my! It’s a creature of some sort.’ And that’s exactly how I felt about my hair which was coarse and had dried out in knotted curls that were probably sticking up like I had been electrocuted.
