The latest from Carmen. Sorry it is late. I am getting slack and so is Carmen with sending pictures. :) Happy Cezar Chavez day! aka, the most hated holiday by all LDS missionaries serving in Denver. I had never heard of Cezar Chavez until today, but because of him, ALL of the libraries in Denver are closed, so my companion and I spent an hour searching for a library to go to. So, finally, here we are! In Aurora. and were hungry. I hope all is well in all of the places you are. :) I have had another good week full of learning and growing and teaching and doing all sorts of other missionary things. Something that I see constantly is that when you give, you receive! We gave a referral to the other sisters in our ward last week, and immediately received a referral for a guy named Jesus who is TOTALLY awesome. He said maybe hed get baptized in a year or two, but well see about that. ;) He came to stake conference last week and he was at church yesterday! Another example; Saturday, the weather was FABULOUS!! We went tracting (knocking on doors) and it was SUPER fun! We met lots of awesome people, lots of uninterested people... but! We found 3 super interested gringos! One of them told us he was searching for his purpose in life and had no doubt that Joseph Smith could have translated the Book of Mormon by the power of God. So we gave those referrals away, and that night at the womens session of General Conference we got a free tub of cookie dough ice cream!!!! I also learned that its fun talking to gringos about the gospel because ...Im fluent in English. But thats okay, Spanish will come! It gets better every day! Speaking of General Conference, the womens session was AMAZING. I pretty much cried like he whole time. It was so beautiful and I just wanted to hug everyone. Seriously. Id always heard that Conference is better on your mission, and its SO TRUE. Its because were more spiritually prepared. But, guess what! You dont have to be a missionary to be spiritually prepared! I encourage you to make daily gospel study a priority. Itll bring so many blessings! (and youll get more out of General Conference... and life in general!) https://lds.org/general-conference/sessions/2014/04?cid=HPTH032714628&lang=eng (General Womens Meeting) ^^ THIS WEEKEND IS CONFERENCE WEEKEND AND IM SUPER EXCITED. :D Yesterday our ward had a TRIPLE baptism! Three investigators got baptized! (Sister Espinosa & Sister Gutierrez) It was absolutely amazing. The Spirit was so strong. However, Ive never been to a more dramatic baptism. The boiler was out, so the water was freezing. You could see them shivering. The guy who baptized the last guy, Felipe, slammed the poor guy all the way to the bottom of the font and poor Felipe smacked his head on the floor. It was loud. (Hey, Felipe, do you remember what you felt when you were baptized?) It was pretty funny... and then... when they were getting confirmed I started getting a little dizzy and then there were sirens and firefighters and then we were evacuated out of the church building because there was a gas leak. Look how hard Satan works! I think he was upset that 3 amazing people entered Gods kingdom yesterday. I cant think of much else to talk about... but I love you all! Here are some scriptures/quotes I like: 2 Nephi 5:27 And it came to pass that we lived after the manner of happiness I love this scripture because it shows us that happiness is a lifestyle choice! If you arent happy, its because you arent living after the manner of happiness. Everyone has problems and trials and sad things happen to all of us. BUT living after the manner of happiness, we learn to be truly happy deep inside of us no matter what is happening on the surface. The manner of happiness is the gospel of Jesus Christ! Trials are inevitable, but if they determined our happiness wed never be happy. ...and now I cant get away from the blue.... Now a quote from President Dieter F. Uchtdorf: The thing about truth is that it exists beyond belief. It is true even if nobody believes it. Who knows the truth? Heavenly Father does! and all of His children to ask, seek, and knock! He wants to share the truth with us. All honest seekers of truth will find it if they go to the right source. (Heavenly Father) Pray! Welp. I hope you all have a great week! Remember that I love you and that God loves you. and watch General Conference. Man, its going to be AMAZING. Come, listen to a prophets voice! https://lds.org/prophets-and-apostles/unto-all-the-world/general-conference-has-something-for-you-b?cid=HPTU032514617&lang=eng ^^General Conference has something for you I love you all! Con amor, Hermana Carmen Freeman
