The myth of bra-burning in the late 60’s by feminist activist is the subject of my piece “Burned”. I had lots of fun creating the fabric sections for this work, particularly when I torched several fancy bras I bought at our local thrift store! The work reflects on the urban myth that has persisted almost 40 years – I liked using the burning of fabrics as part of the work because I love marrying the medium with the message – I think Marshall McLuhan said something like that a long time ago J I specifically created this piece as part of Karen Musgrave’s curated shows with our CLAW group of artists that address social and political issues through fiber art.
