The only way to make any sense of the cyber-attack on JPMorgan - TopicsExpress

The only way to make any sense of the cyber-attack on JPMorgan Chase that exposed the accounts of more than 83 million households and businesses, along with attacks on nine other financial institutions infiltrated by the same group, is as a message they can cause financial chaos if they want to. Why would they want to send this message? The hackers appear to be connected to the Russian government, now reeling from economic sanctions from the West in response to Russia’s aggression in Ukraine. Could Russia want the U.S. to feel a gun pointed at its financial head, in order to ease the sanctions? By the way, why did it take JPMorgan Chase more than six weeks to report the breach? And why havent the other nine financial institutions gone public with the extent of the attacks on them?
