The police sources said during initial investigation it had emerged that Anjana was a “manglik (a condition associated with some specific faults in a person’s astrological chart),” which posed some difficulties in finalising her marriage. “She was upset due to this reason,” said a police official, adding, “We are also trying to find out whether she had someone in her life whom she wanted to marry, but could not due to this problem.” “The family had been visiting astrologers as well, a few of whom had reportedly objected to her marriage with a non-manglik man.” Astrologers normally suggest that people with this fault in their astrological charts should marry each other. The police is questioning Anjana’s family in connection with the case. “We suspect that she was depressed and are trying to ascertain a few things,” added the police.
