The state comptroller says the projected deficit has grown in part - TopicsExpress

The state comptroller says the projected deficit has grown in part because of lower-than-expected gas tax collections, caused by falling gas prices. I call BULLSHIT. Can someone care to tell me how falling gas prices DECREASE gas tax revenue? Isnt gas taxed in CT at 25 cents per gallon? Lower prices would likely cause increased sales as people can afford to drive more. That would mean increased revenue. Even if the price of gas was cut in half from where it is right now, the state would still get their 25 cents per gallon. Does Malloy actually believe people are that stupid?
