The story of a campus girl PART 3 Episode 14 Chike came back to the country on the first saturday of December, after being away for so long. I couldn’t believe my eyes when i saw his local number appear on my ringing phone. I immediately knew that the dreaded moment has arrived. I feared a whole lot of trouble awaited me. I was left with no doubt that he wouldn’t let go of me without a struggle. “cyndii dear, i’m back in the country. How do we see?” he asked, sounding very calm and sweet over the phone. My heart pounded furiously, i was deeply troubled. I was unable to find my voice. I had so much waited and prepared for such a day with deep seriousness, but when it finally came, i lost grip of myself. My heart, soul and lips failed me with so much abandon. “please forget about me. I’m good as married” i finally managed to mutter before ending the call abruptly, tears soaking my eyes. I truly wasn’t crying for myself but for him because i couldn’t imagine what he was going through that fateful moment. He called again and again but i ignored his calls. Twenty one times he called me, i just was unable to talk to him. The next evening, i was deeply surprised and stunned to see him in my parents house. I couldn’t believe my eyes because i felt he was incapable of locating my hometown. I really was in my room that fateful evening listening to cool music and resting after a whole day of stress at the market, where i assisted mum in buying some materials we planned donating to our local parish {church}, when I heard the sound of a car stop outside the compound and a familar male voice asking mum some questions, which prompted me to look out of my window curiously. Then my eyes fell on him, a sharp pain piercing my heart as i stared at him with deep tension which instantly took over my entire body. I instantly got up from my bed and rushed out to meet him. “don’t worry mum he is my friend. I don’t think you can remember his face because it has been long you last saw him. You met him when Dad had an accident and was admitted at the hospital years ago” i introduced him to Mum, who quickly nodded, smiled and left after welcoming him, leaving us alone to discuss. He quickly faced me, his eyes red and blazing. “Cyndii i beg of you, what is this i hear? Please tell me it isn’t true. I’m now here for you. We can run away together. We can leave the country immediately” he poured out with deep emotion, shaking my heart with his prayers. I was touched. “things are now out of my control. It can’t happen, i’m now Mike’s wife. I was never in your destiny” i said calmly, pleading with my eyes for him to understand and leave. I knew i had decieved him by once giving him hope, but he stayed away for too long leaving me with no other choice. “is your dad around?” he asked suddenly, “no but why do you ask?” i asked curiously, “because i’m here to make things right. I’m here to get my princess, my wife and my life. I’m ready to repay all Mike spent on your head” he poured out seriously. “i beg of you, stop this nonsense” i heard myself cry out. My outburst drew mum’s attention, she quickly ran into the sitting room and gasped as her eyes fell on Chike holding my two hands strongly. I quickly knew things were far from over.
