The watch my grandparents gave to my dad for his high school graduation (an Elgin) has been missing for a couple weeks now. I found it this morning under some clothes that had piled up. And you know how it is when you lose something important; you feel like nothing will be quite right until it gets back in its place. So I felt comforted when I put it back in my jewelry box where it belongs. This afternoon, I was walking around a store owned by the parents of a former student, one who had been special to me and who had seemed to simply not be there anymore when I came by. And I was thinking about the watch and how much I wished I knew what happened to her (I could never ask because I feared something bad). I walked past the back room, and there she was pushing a baby stroller back and forth (her second child). And I feel like another important missing piece of my life is finally back in its place.
