TheGallery at AUB is responsible for the Art Collection - much of which is displayed in a number of corridors, meeting rooms, Lecture Theatres, AUCB’s Library and Conference Centre, the Enterprise Pavilion and administrative offices around the campus. It is mostly composed of gifts and donations from alumni, exhibiting artists and friends, with almost a hundred pieces of artworks. The Collection reflects the diverse research, teaching and practise that the University College has to offer. After Monet, by Joseph Thomas, is currently one of the artworks on show around AUB. Joseph Thomas graduated from AUB in 2013 from BA (Hons) Photography. The work represents an attempt to bridge the gap between contemporary photography and its aesthetic roots in impressionist painting. It reveals the close connection had between the artist and the landscape, showing a sympathetic view of the natural world. The photograph can be read by each viewer in a unique way, feeding on memories and feelings rather than logical assumptions.
