There is an editorial in todays edition of the Lawton Constitution (5/3/2014). I dont know who wrote it....but I like it, and will like to share it with you. There may be an easier way to do this, but since I dont know it, Im typing it verbatim. SHANNONS WORK ETHIC ABOVE REPROACH As we are all too aware, the political races across the state are starting to heat up. Unfortunately, so has the political rhetoric. Recently, in another part of the sate, some, who are obviously short on facts, have questioned the time T.w. Shannon spent on the job in the Oklahoma House of Representatives and suggested that he should have spent more time serving the state and his district. Hmmmmmm? Apparently these speculators are unaware that Shannons attendance record has been great. They are probably also unaware that when he wasnt at the Capitol he was back in his district. Shannon is well known for driving the 90 miles home daily to spend evenings with his family and participate in community events. Those who actually know T.W. know he has always been incredibly open and transparent and is a man of impeccable character. He is also a man who has always known how to prioritize the things that are the most important. Last fall, T.W.s wife Devon was diagnosed with breast cancer. Those closest to him knew he was prepared to resign as speaker depending on the outcome of his wifes surgery. Those who knew of his plans were overwhelmed with his dedication to her and were amazed at his willingness to put his political career on hold to take care of his family crisis. Fortunately (Thanks be to God) Devon is on the road to recovery. Shannon is a full time husband, dad, legislator, community leader and hes been a full time representative for Southwest Oklahoma. For those in the rest of the state who have questions about his work ethic, his integrity, or his character, just ask most anyone in this part of the state. Theres a better than average chance they have met T.W. and have visited with him at a dance recital or tee ball game or some other community event. Hes that hands on in his district. I wholeheartedly agree with this editorial, and wonder if people would look at the character of the candidates and not the party would we have better government leaders?
