There might be a lot of interpretations regarding Revelations, but the final chapter remains for most part uncontested as a clear and final encouragement but also a warning from the Lord. It says in chapter 22: "10 And he [further] told me, Do not seal up the words of the prophecy of this book and make no secret of them, for the time when things are brought to a crisis and the period of their fulfillment is near. 11 He who is unrighteous (unjust, wicked), let him be unrighteous still; and he who is filthy (vile, impure), let him be filthy still; and he who is righteous (just, upright, in right standing with God), let him do right still; and he who is holy, let him be holy still. 12 Behold, I am coming soon, and I shall bring My wages and rewards with Me, to repay and render to each one just what his own actions and his own work merit. 13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last (the Before all and the End of all). 14 Blessed (happy and to be envied) are those who cleanse their garments, that they may have the authority and right to [approach] the tree of life and to enter through the gates into the city." Jesus makes an emphatic statement that in the very last days there will be people who will be walking in unholiness, and if we regard His warnings in the Gospels and we look at the Book of Revelations in general, we should not be surprised that the world will fall into deeper and far more darker spirtual apostasy and corruption. It is already happening. There is so much false doctrines where paganism and Christianity has merged. If we look at 2 Timothy chapter 3, we also read how in the final days people will be very far away from God, walking in unholiness. So Jesus is in fact telling the entire world that we have a choice: we can either choose to keep walking after Him and His Truth, which means a lot of sacrifice and denying the self, or choosing the ways of the devil which means exalting the self above all, even God. It is a choice. It is that simple. But it remains clear according to Scriptures that many people will not chose God, or His ways or His Truth. Tragic. Many will chose to remain unholy and impure and immoral. And so Jesus says if that is our choice, then that is our choice and we can keep on doing it, but He then warns in verse 15 that those who make such a choice will not enter the New Jerusalem. But those who indeed chose to deny themselves, to take up the cross, we do not follow the apostasy and the heresy and the false doctrines of this world, will indeed enter the gates and enjoy eternity with God. Jesus is coming - we can deny it, or we can argue against it, but no matter our choice, He is coming as the Alpha and the Omega. We can say He is old fashioned, or a replica of some other pagan god, or whatever nonsense, but He is real and He is coming. And for those who want to walk with Him, well, a choice needs to be made - a choice to truly find out from Him what is His Truth and then to walk in such a manner. It is a choice about following the true Lord in Spirit and Truth, and not all the New Age and humanistic teachings so often dressed up as Christian theology or doctrine. So yes, we have a choice - be holy and strive to remain holy, or be impure, and then remain impure. Our choice by free will, but the consequences are real - everlasting life with God or seperation from our only true Creator. Sadly, so many will remain stubborn and will remain deceived by the father of lies. How we can but pray in these days of much deception and darkness that people will find the true Light, and not the false light as punted by a world of torment, chaos and self-destrcution.
