Thinking back to that day of Aug. 29, 1979 when Rory Gallagher pulled a guitar case out from under his hotel room bed after an hour interview I did with him. As I was leaving, I had mentioned how cool his guitar was. When he snapped open the case, there it was in all of its glory. Do you play, he asked. I replied, A little, which was an extreme overstatement in my part. Would you like to play it. Looking in astonishment, I could only stammer, Uh, no. I dont think so. Maybe he thought that everyone in Memphis was a gunslinger. I wish I had at least held the relic. I was just amazed that he would even offer. A sweeter guy Ive rarely run across. Speaking of gunslingers, every guitarist should watch this documentary, especially the young bucks who dont really know this wonderful guitarist. And then go out and check out some of his stuff. There are quite a few live things in YouTube. You wont be sorry. I promise.
