This is NOT a gun issue. This is a common sense issue. Ralli Mottar, is proposing a gun shooting range to be built on 10th St. between Carroll St (104) and Lincoln St. This is a residential neighborhood. Kids play outside, families ride bikes, people enjoy sitting on their front porch in peace. The proposed site is surrounded on every side by homes. This is an older neighborhood, where many people have owned their homes for 40+ years. They did not buy homes next to a shooting range, and do not deserve to have one literally thrust into their backyards. The Village Board granted a zoning change last night at the board meeting after listening to the plans to build this shooting range. I am urging everyone to call our board members and tell them this does not belong within the city limits. There are plenty of rural areas surrounding Pawnee to build such a business. Even the safest gun ranges have accidents. In 2002, the Illinois State Police Firing Range had to be temporarily closed down because they were accidentally shooting out car windows in the Ameren parking lot. If residents do not voice their concerns, this WILL be passed at the next board meeting. pawneeil.net/officers
