This is a 1920 Platt Map of Tonkawa Township. I have marked out the land of both Ernest Burk, son of GGreat Uncle Phillip. And the land of Ras Burk, But on this platt map. Ownership is shown to be one George Bellman. Father of Henry Bellman, future Governor of Oklahoma 1963-1967, Then Oklahoma Senator. I so not know the reason, but at this point, I can only speculate, the Ras may have needed to get a loan. And had to turn over title, We know that the Burk family remained on the farm until it was finally lost, not long before Great Grandma died. I have heard from Uncle Clark, Aunt Marie, Grandma Mable and Dad. Many times about the loss GGreat Grandpa suffered from the train load of mules that he had bought, and couldnt sell to the Army. Aunt Marie told me about 12 or 13 years ago what finally happened to them. That they were sold to the Indian Agency, and delivered to the San Carlos Reservation. Our family was important in this little pond!
