This is a Soviet 50 mm light infantry mortar, developed as a variant of the M1938 120 mm mortar and used during WWII. Its one of the cheapest and most common light infantry mortars used in the third-world today. Its famous for being idiot proof. This guy is probably in a live fire exercise at a training camp because hes only aiming using line of sight. The trainer, if he actually had one killed him. If hes loading on the right, the shells should be on the right. Here is loading from the left with his right hand. Its not what killed him, but it would have eventually. He should have been holding with his right and loading with his left. Also, when loading you keep your thumb on the top of the bottom fin as you guide it into the mortar. His visibility is limited by the mask and he didnt notice the round going in upside down. This guy was dead the minute he picked up that weapon.
