This is a fun article to read but first... Folks - guess what, doing the right things consistently will allow you to continue to make progress - as long as you are following a set of programming that is smart, effective, and allows for real response to the training stimulus across broad domains, with goals in mind - its not just a workout or as I would say, consistently throwing slamballs into the bucket of defeat... When its Snatch or Press day, dont wander off and tabata the hell out of air squats and light as hell KB swings...OR do that, but Dont come at me with Im not getting better as fast as I thought!... Really? Of course youre not. But you can slam the hell out of a 10# rubber ball, and you can sweat it out like nobody else. If thats your goal - Im down, have fun - thats the point afterall...to a point. However, if you have SPECIFIC goals that involve comprehensive fitness, your TRAINING (not coming in and working out, your TRAINING) has to support that. Dont get me wrong - there is nothing wrong with slamball. When used appropriately, like a taser or a coffee machine, to achieve a very specific task as a part of greater whole, they are excellent tools. But when its time to mow the yard, dont run inside and make coffee and hope the lawn will mow itself - aint gonna happen. See where Im going here? ANYWAY - this article IS really cool, and it really gives you some perspective on progress that is based on empirical evidence (always cool). Please send all Slamball hate mail directly to the comments, I can handle it. B tabatatimes/long-take-improve-crossfit/
