This is an update about The Pines (formerly Wattle Ridge) bushfire situation as of 10.30am Saturday. Multiple Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews with the support of three aerial appliances are working to extinguish a large bushfire in the vicinity of Paddy’s Creek Road and Pine Ridge Road near the Gore Highway, The Pines. The fire, which is burning within containment lines has covered approximately 450 hectares of land. Firefighters are working on strengthening and constructing containment lines and blackening out the fire. There is no threat to structures but residents will see active fire and smoke in the area. Smoke hazard is still an issue in the areas of Flamingo Road, Peacock Road, Rosella Avenue and Boondindilla Road. Firefighters are urging nearby residents to stay aware of the situation. Smoke is affecting visibility in the area and motorists are asked to drive to the conditions. Residents are advised to keep their doors and windows closed and those who suffer from respiratory conditions are advised to keep their medications close by. Keep listening to ABC Southern Queensland throughout the day for updates should the situation change.
