This is exactly why I have pursued EMDR training. Exposure Therapy - TopicsExpress

This is exactly why I have pursued EMDR training. Exposure Therapy was not enough. Attachment parenting work with traumatized foster/adoptive children and their families was not enough. Adding in EMDR has made a great difference in my treatment of people with a complex trauma history. I still do all of what they are suggesting in this article, I just then often add in EMDR as people are ready. With foster and adopted children I use a combination of attachment work, TBRI (Trust Based Relational Interventions) which involves a great deal of sensory integration information, and then EMDR. I am very encouraged by the combinations of these tools and modalities. Seeing results that remind me to never underestimate my clients abilities to heal themselves with the right tools and support.
