This is it....Today I am a year out from being diagnosed with Stage 1- Base of Tongue/Floor of Mouth -Squamous Cell Carcinoma Cancer. To be honest, it was probably the scariest day of my life. If youre ever diagnosed with cancer, I highly suggest finding a doc that you trust with your life, and leaving the stats to your team, and above that, to God. I learned the hard way that numbers aint nothing but a thing, so theres simply no benefit in allowing them to rattle you. On another note, however, I believe to my core that everything happens for a reason, and the Father knew I would study the numbers, scare the sh@& out of my myself, and fight back. Ive had NED (no evidence of disease) since January 21, so I have a few more weeks to reach my one year marker there. On another note, although I do love anniversaries, I try not to put so much stock in them that I lose sight of the true gift. I like to think of how this experience spurred me to question my very existence and whether or not I had put even a dent in the true reason I was put here on this earth. I suddenly realized that I was not where I wanted to be in the eyes of the Father. I was slacking. At that point, I somehow decided to turn up the passion in my life, and I began life anew. It has been the greatest gift that Ive ever received. When I was faced with my own mortality, I saw just how much static I had in my life that simply didnt matter. Maybe you already know this, and I am so very happy for you. If what I am saying resonates something in you though.....pull out your broom now and clean house. Be happy....love yourself more.....fall in love with life and people and dreams. Remember that we are all a gift to one another....the Father didnt want us to be alone:) Ive learned that its not complicated....children and animals have the answers. The heart knows what it wants.. and if our hearts are in the right place....it will all be ok. God bless all of us this day and always. I hope with all of my heart that you enjoy THIS day. Hugs!!
