This is just an example...Riley has their own therapy program but this is similar to what they talked about with us.... Coma Stimulation Program (also referred as sensory stimulation). The goal of this program is to improve arousal and responsiveness in an individual emerging from a coma. This is accomplished by exposing the patient to sensory stimulation designed to elicit purposeful, goal-directed responses. Utilizing the JFK-Coma Recovery Scale, a standardized instrument for grading progress, therapists work with the individual to maximize his or her physical, emotional and functional potential. Family and/or caregiver education are also provided, so that they become active members coma stimulation team.
