This is my last bottle of California Olive Ranch oil, a great - TopicsExpress

This is my last bottle of California Olive Ranch oil, a great product made right here in the States by a small company that pays fair wages to the employees and fair prices to suppliers. It is blisteringly expensive to buy at Stop and Shop, but quite reasonable at DeMoulas. The needle is pointing toward E, and Id dearly like to hit the Market Basket and buy another one. But I wont. Why? Because in the short term Id be happy, but in the long term Id be making a serious error. I know people like Arthur S. DeMoulas from my day job. This type of person thinks in these terms: How can I increase my profit margin? Well, Ill let my prices drift upwards a bit. How can I get more out of my employees? Well, Ill trim their benefits, and replace some seasoned folks with eager newbies wholl work for lower wages. Or, to put it in plainer terms, Ill screw my customers, Ill screw my workers, and reward myself in the process. I also know of people, specifically CEOs, like Arthur T. DeMoulas. These people think in terms of Ill give my customers the best possible deal, and they in turn will reward me with their loyalty, and Ill treat my employees fairly, pay them good wages, provide good benefits, and share the profits. They in turn will reward me by working incredibly hard, because they will see me as more of a partner than a boss. So I wont kowtow to the Arthur S. DeMoulas way of thinking. Ill head to Trader Joes, and buy something which is reasonably priced and almost (but not quite) as good. And Ill continue to do so, until Arthur T. DeMoulas is back at the helm of Market Basket. Please be aware of this, Mr. Gooch, Ms. Thornton, Mr. Domoracki, Mr. Cowan, Mr. Weiner, Mr. Levins, and Mr. Gebaide. I am a very patient fellow. So are we all. But I doubt that Arthur T. is quite so patient, and he is certainly no fool. Your company, because of the actions which you have taken, is substantially devalued. No one, and certainly not ATD, will pay top dollar for a devalued asset. You need to accept his offer now, walk away from the table with money, and let the rest of us get on with shopping, before you render the entire company utterly without value save for your real estate. And allow me remind you, my good folks, that bankruptcy sales never command a premium.
