This is still one of the most creative & experimental music videos Ive seen. The symbolism is absolutely fascinating. In the beginning it is black and white, but as the video progresses, more and more colors appear. The onscreen pace is synchronous to the soundtrack; the footage slows and quickens with the music. The mise-en-scene is unique within this one, especially when comparing the saturated & de-saturated costume and make up styles. Although both looks seem to take inspiration from tribal artwork, the fantasy-like character’s make-up can appear to also take inspiration from a music icon.
