This is the current update from CalFire: Evacuations have been issued for Johnson Park, Cassel, Big Eddie Estates and an advisory has been issued for the town of Burney for more information call 530-336-6494 or 336-6553 Hwy 89 remains closed from the junction of Hwy 44 and 89 north to Hwy 299. Basic Information Current as of 8/3/2014 10:59:17 AM Incident Type Wildfire Cause Unknown Date of Origin Thursday July 31st, 2014 approx. 06:00 PM Location 6 miles northwest of Old Station Incident Commander Mike Minton, Norcal Iimt1 Current Situation Total Personnel 310 Size 22,788 Acres Percent of Perimeter To Be Contained 100% Fuels Involved Timber and brush Significant Events Fire behavior moderated somewhat overnight. Fire spread is primarily torching and spotting in the morning, transitioning to more extreme fire behavior in the afternoon, including torching, rapid rates of spread with spotting up to 4 miles ahead of the fire. Outlook Planned Actions Continue constructing fire break south of the Town of Burney and west of structures along Highway 89. Priority is protecting structures and communities. Projected Incident Activity Fire should continue to spread north, east and southeast. Resistance to control is very high. Remarks Initial inventory conducted yesterday identified the fire had burned 8 primary residences, 20 outbuildings and one nonresidential structure. A team is out today verifying that information. No additional structures burned last night. Current Weather Weather Concerns Hot and dry, unstable weather conditions suitable for explosive fire growth. Thunderstorm potential Monday with possible Red Flag Warning for dry lightning.Fire should continue to spread north
