This morning, a friend in this space sent: Have you been following your Pa Ikhide at all? Do you think hes alright? My response: Pa Ikhide is just an entertainer; an infectious humorist you read, sometimes amidst approving laughter, other times absolutely embarrassed. But the joke may be on you if you really take him serious. His satirical commentaries on Nigerias quest for change are contents that should only amuse you because hes just as similarly uncertain of the way out as the Nigerians he pans, day in, day out. The difference between you and him is, while, for him, the politics of Nigeria is an inspiration for comedy, you consider it a matter of life and death. Perhaps because youre more directly affected. Ask him about the way out, and like Soyinka, another critic of Buhari, the response may be a confirmation of our public intellectuals fabled incomprehension of our socio-political reality. Both Soyinka and Pa Ikhide, though advocates of a desired Utopia, are not your archetypical foot-soldiers of popular causes. Sadly, their methods or expectations are unrealistic. Except theyre willing to lead or initiate an alternative cause, which is unlikely. #OkayBye
