This post isnt looking for sympathy, or whining. Read through it. So last night I bit it pretty hard. Walking to work, I usually cut across the 7-11 parking lot because its well lit. Last night, too many people and a vendor truck were littering up the lot, so to avoid getting run over I walked along the edge of the curb. The shadow of a car cast over this hole where a grate sat at the bottom (why the grate doesnt sit level to the pavement, I dont know), I stepped in it weird, twisted my ankle, and biffed my opposite knee trying to catch myself. Toppled completely over, laying on my side. It looked much more brutal than it was, especially because the ankle I twisted so hard that my foot went THROUGH THE SIDE OF MY SHOE. Pretty hilarious. Again, not looking for sympathy. Heres the point of this post: A girl came running over to see if I was alright, because my foot poking out the side of my shoe looked VERY violent at first glance. Like, compound fracture violent. Plus, I was cussing at my knee. Not a proud moment, but... Anyway, once I calmed HER down, I looked in my bag and the glass bottle of tea I bought had busted and was all over my dinner. Okay, pause here and compliment the girl. In a parking lot FULL of people coming in and out of the store, driving in and out of the parking lot, she was the only one to ask if I was okay. Gigantic, hairy, wearing-all-black-and-cussing ME. Not even the guy whose car I biffed it in front of. He got out of his car a split second before it happened, but kept walking. That took guts. Kudos to her. For THAT. Heres where she lost me: She said, Hey, it happened on their property, they should give you a new one. I said, No, I bought this up the street. She said, Yeah, but still, it happened on their property. You SHOULD be able to get something out of it. I mean, if you find out youre seriously hurt later, you could even sue. WUT? (>_
