This song was inspired by Jims band name Penguin Island which I thought was a very odd name until he told me the story behind it. Having written the initial lyrics I seemed to get stuck in the rhythm of the words Id written and couldnt find a melody. I went over to jims one night and asked him to put some chords to it and see what happens. that did the trick, once I heard his version that seemed to free me up. I didnt end up using his melody but it helped immensely. Ive also written a waltz which seemed to fall out the back of the song one day as I sang it. My fingers kept playing and The Island Waltz came out. No Mans Island
