This was interesting. Catwoman, of Batman fame, was originally conceived as an African American woman, though due to cultural pressure in the 1940s, she was rewritten as a white female, due to potential objections about a black woman being involved with Bruce Wayne, a millionaire (now billionaire) businessman, playboy, and crime fighter. While white actresses have portrayed her, Eartha Kitt, a black American, became The Original Catwoman. Selina Kyle in particular seemes to be rather darker complected, perhaps light skinned black, biracial, latina or Italian. Who knows.... Well she was played by a biracial woman, Halle Berry, on the stand alone film Catwoman.
