Thomas Joseph Simpson Today has ended with great sorrow as Canada has lost a great and legendary man and veteran of the Second World War. One of Canada’s last links to the Battle of Dieppe is no longer with us. Howard Large died tonight (August 21, 2014) in Windsor, Ontario. He was 96 years old. Howard Large is a Canadian Army veteran of the Second World War, where he earned several medals, including the Dieppe Clasp for his great service and sacrifice in the Battle of Dieppe. Howards service to Canada is one of the reasons that we enjoy freedom today. Howard was a great survivor that is directly attributed to his work ethic and character as a person. Howard Large served Canada with distinction and he should be remembered for his dedication and bravery in defence of freedom. As a nation and community we should honour his tremendous service and mourn his passing. Let us pay tribe to Howard’s many accomplishments and use his example to inspire many future generations to serve their nation. May the legacy of Howard Large always be with us and live around us. To the family of Howard Large please accept our most heartfelt sympathies for your loss. Our thoughts are with you and your family during this difficult time.
