Thousands of Jehovahs Witnesses gather at Twickenham Stadium this past weekend. Hundreds of people have been baptized at Twickenham Stadium during a huge gathering of Jehovahs Witnesses. More than 50,000 people from across the globe attended a convention in London over the Bank Holiday weekend. Nearly 100,000 more people watched via live video link at venues across the UK. A temporary pool was set up on the rugby pitch, in which 359 people were baptized during the course of the weekend. Among the attendees were delegates from the Trinidad and Tobago, Australia and Japan, with many of the international contingent opting to wear traditional costumes from their native countries. Witnesses from Russia, where they face fines or even jail for distributing certain banned publications, also celebrated the freedom to worship openly.
