Three prominent potato industry leaders will be inducted into the New Brunswick Potato Museum’s Hall of Recognition in 2014. Being admitted to the Hall of Recognition in 2014 are well-known Hartland potato industry pioneer, entrepreneur and politician, the late Heber Harold Hatfield; the late Eugene Brennan of Bath, a prominent grower and shipper of seed and table potatoes; and professional agricultural engineer Jean-Louis Daigle of Grand Falls. Their accomplishments will be celebrated at the 11th annual gala dinner on Friday, Sept. 5, at the museum in Florenceville-Bristol. The evening will begin with a social hour at 6 p.m. with dinner and the formal awards ceremony to follow. Tickets are $50 per person. These awards were created to acknowledge individuals or groups who have made a significant contribution to the potato industry in New Brunswick. Farmers, individuals involved in farm organizations, business persons, agrologists and scientists who have made a contribution that improved the potato industry are all considered for induction. Potato World will be just one of numerous Florenceville-Bristol establishments paying homage to the communitys number one export during National French Fry Day on July 13. Nominations are considered in the potato industry through local, provincial, national or international efforts in the fields of marketing, organization, production, breeding, research, policy, communications and education. The nominations are considered from four different groups: Potatoes NB, NB Seed Growers Association, NB Potato Exporters Association, NB Institute of Agrologists, as well as from the general public. Those nominated are judged in four areas based on information received on the application form by a committee of the board of Potato World. All nominations are held for five years with the nominees being eligible for the award each of those five years. Past inductees include Harrison McCain and Yvon Ouellette (2004), Wallace McCain and Anton L.
