Thursday song of the day: Fire by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown. One of the great one-hit wonders of the 1960s The Crazy World of Arthur Brown was one of the early psychedelic bands. Lead singer Arthur Brown was known for his wild stage antics, including makeup that predated (and influenced) Alice Cooper and Kiss, a helmet that would be set on fire during Fire, and being lowered onstage from a winch. The flaming helmet and suit got him kicked off a tour opening for Jimi Hendrix. Heres the original recording of Fire, along with a later live performance that shows the helmet, etc. Fairly mild by todays standards, but just nuts in 1968. youtube/watch?v=RLG1ys2CGcI youtube/watch?v=FaHEusBG20c Tomorrow: Love and death aint no physical thing.
