To all who greeted me and prayed for me on my birthday, thank you - TopicsExpress

To all who greeted me and prayed for me on my birthday, thank you for your words of encouragement. And to the congregation of New Life in Christ Baptist Church thank you for your love and partnership in the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Last Friday the 12th, I turned 67. This coming Friday the 19th, my employer of some 23, Xerox Oakville Toner Plant will cease operation and close down. When it opened in 1991, I was one of the first hire of the company. Early this year I struggled deciding when to hand in my retirement notice. But in June I read of Bryan Wilkersons sermon Climbing Test Mountains based on Genesis 22. I felt relieved and comforted to know that our God knows our circumstance. Just like Abraham we only need to trust God and obey Him. I was kind of like in a flying trapeze not willing to let go off the bar....but I let go in spite of my fears. I decided to hand in my retirement notice in September 30. But the Lord has His own timetable. On July 22, my first supervisor who rose through the ranks in the Xerox world came and announced the plant closure 12 days before I could retire. We were all stunned. But in my heart I uttered a prayer thanking the Lord for His plans for my life and His wise sovereignty. I pray for my co- employees that they will find jobs somewhere and discover that ultimately God alone is our employer because He is the source of all good things. And that He not only provides employment, but offers us eternal life and this life is in His Son Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord. 1 John 4: 11 - 12. I hope this mini testimony will encourage Christians to learn really to trust in the Lord.
