To celebrate the enactment of Cooneys Law and for those who plan - TopicsExpress

To celebrate the enactment of Cooneys Law and for those who plan on attending tonights NLVs City Council Meeting, here is the letter that our volunteer, Melissa Boyd, sent to the Mayor and each Council Person. Hoping for a great turnout tonight, see you all there: I am writing to inquire as to why the City of North Las Vegas fails to prosecute animal hoarding cases and properly investigate and prosecute shootings of family pets by NLV Police Dept. North Las Vegas also fails to abide by the law concerning all Felony Animal Abuse and Cruelty cases located within your city limits; none of these cases are taken seriously or prosecuted even though you are still within the jurisdiction of Clark County, Nevada. The City of North Las Vegas is not exempt from the law: Mandatory Spay & Neuter and Animal Cruelty Laws dont stop at the City Line. Within the last several weeks, a stolen vehicle was recovered in your jurisdiction where another innocent little dog was left to die a horrible death, but again, the City of North Las Vegas refuses to investigate and file Felony Animal Abuse charges in this case. Just within the last several months, there was a cat hoarding situation involving approximately 120 cats where the residence was not even deemed inhabitable. Just in this case alone, close to 100 innocent cats were euthanized by the Animal Foundation. To date, we are not aware of any pending charges or prosecution in this case. With this recent fire this week, where 45 innocent dogs died because of total irresponsibility is not acceptable. Do you really think the general public is going to believe the story that no one knew. Councilman Isaac Barron should be ashamed because he allowed this dog hoarding situation to continue, too many people have come forward to state that he was aware of this situation. As City Council Members, each of you has the responsibility, in your professional and personal dealings, to make sure that the law is followed, including enforcement of spay and neuter laws. Cooneys Law governs the Animal Abuse and Cruelty Laws which was enacted by Nevada State Legislation. I suggest that each of you become familiar with each of these laws. Melissa Boy
