To date, out of everything I have done in my 30 years, everything I have seen and all the places I have been, the happiest moments that stand out in my memory (other than perhaps the first / only time I fell in love at 18), are the times when I was perhaps 23 or 24 or 25, and me and my girlfriend at the time would walk out of our condo tower by the water, holding hands as always, and we would walk through this little tunnel underneath the Gardiner expressway, and out the other side to a Blockbuster and several other stores. We would then have a great time picking out a few movie disks, and merrily and somewhat lazily, always holding hands, walk back to our condo. Then, often on a rainy night, wed get into our car and drive to our favorite pizza store and get our pizza (just for the experience of getting it and the nice drive by the lake and the park), then drive back, pop it in the oven and then very thoroughly enjoy it with our movie and perhaps some Diablo 2 (playing online together as a team). This, to me, is happiness. When I want to remember what its like to be happy, this is where I go in my head. I mentioned this because I think theres a lesson to be learned here. Notice that it wasnt a memory of some extravagant trip or some expensive or complicated activity that made me happy the most. No, it was the simplest, littlest things: holding hands with my girlfriend, going for a nice drive and a nice walk, picking out a movie together, having pizza, playing video games. None of this costs a lot of money and you can enjoy it in Canada or Nigeria or India or wherever you like. Even if you are in an Amazon jungle reading this on god knows what, sit with your friends by the fire, talk and have some delicious roasted foods - you dont need a TV! :) THIS is what makes you happy in life: SIMPLE PLEASURES WITH PEOPLE YOU LOVE.
