To my non-medical FB friends: OMG, lets continue to mislead the public about Propofol on the Joan Rivers death. What theyre not telling the world is that the GI doc who ran the center had NO anesthesia personnel. As a matter of fact, he was a huge opponent of having any anesthesia personnel for endoscopy procedures because he was greedy, bottom line. So, heres what happened. Not only did he perform a surgery for which, as far as I understand, was not consented by the patient, Joan Rivers. He did a vocal cord biopsy during an endoscopy where the patients airway is not secured; not good my friends. They got her so deep, lost her airway (couldnt intubate, or more importantly, ventilate her) and she died from anoxic brain injury. THIS my friends, is why you ALWAYS, want an anesthesia provider during this type of procedure. Educate yourselves. Ask questions. And, if they tell you no, then move right along and have it done elsewhere. And, to my medical FB friends, feel free to add if I missed anything.
