To resurrect some balance in a society where perhaps these - TopicsExpress

To resurrect some balance in a society where perhaps these musicians are not given their full due, and for my own enjoyment, I am starting a weekly Facebook post entitled, The Hidden Corners of Music Makers. The first edition is inspired by the man known as Moondog. Moondog, born Louis Thomas Hardin, went blind at the age of 16. Before settling in Germany, he would live a good portion of his life as a Manhattan street performer carrying a spear and wearing a viking outfit to bizarrely compliment his long hair and beard. He was not only a music composer, but a poet, and an instrument inventor. Drawing inspiration from traditional classical, jazz, and New York subway sounds, he produced an array of music as varied and often as utterly weird as the culture of New York City. In his music collection of well over 15 albums, you will taste everything from potently emotive jazz (Birds Lament, below) to catchy oltimin piano love songs (Hart Songs), to meticulously developed ambient (Cosmic Meditation). While some of his albums may be so peculiar as to really push listen-ability, his dedication to originality can be seen in his constant development of original rhythms in times which were not ordinary. His music is his long standing testament to back up his words...Im not going to die in 4/4 time.
