To say that life is an adventure would be an understatement given the past 60 hours in my life. Tuesday morning I was in Phoenix with my dear friends, Jeff Chester and Pam Nelson Chester. We had enjoyed a great week together and I was considering staying in the Phoenix area and was applying for jobs. Mid-morning (Tuesday) I got a phone call from a woman asking me if I was considering moving to Southern California. (I had applied for a job via Monster and my resume still has my Vashon address). In less than 24 hours I was in my car driving to Covina, CA to interview with NCADD. At 9 am this morning I interview and by 10:30 had been offered a full time position with great benefits. The icing on the cake is that I will be working as a Prevention Coordinator, facilitating a county/state prevention grant. Ill be working with an incredible group of professionals and a community advisory group. I couldnt be more excited and I start on Monday. Next task at hand was to find a place to live. I looked at apartments, condos and rooms for rent. The blessings appeared in every look. Tomorrow I will be moving into a lovely 2 bedroom/2 bath apartment with an amazing woman. She is close to my age, is originally from El Salvador and we were both very happy to have found each other. The beginning of my Cali Ohana. :) Ill stay a month, or two, or longer. . . playing it by ear and taking time to really get to know the area before I jump into my own place. This apartment is about 1.5 miles from my office and has off street covered parking. Its on a cul-de-sac. My kids will appreciate that. . . wink. . wink. . I wont be a California commuter! woot! woot! Tomorrow I buy a bed and some sheets. ;) Then Ill unload my car and settle in. Maybe Ill get to the beach this weekend. A swim in the ocean would be the perfect add on to this awesome adventure. There are SO many people who have supported me over the years and ultimately led me to this place. Of course first and foremost my beautiful, smart and loving kidlets; Ori, Blair, Andy & Kenese. You have been awesome cheerleaders! Little Sven is the BEST grandson a Mema could ever imagine. I cant wait to share California with you.
