To whom it may concern: You don’t know me and that’s ok, I am just an anonymous voice on the phone. I want to let you in on a secret, people tell me things, which they would never tell you, because I am an anonymous voice on the phone with a kind ear. Your mother told me today that you live far away and have a life of your own, she is all alone. She has pride so she would never tell you that after she pays her bills each month she can’t afford food so she lives off of soup. Or at times she chooses between medicine and food. Your father told me that his kids forget about him and at times he feels scared and alone and that he can barely afford to live. I hear about people who have lost their jobs, lost their homes and lost their loved ones. Each one breaks my heart, and at times I even shed a tear. But what can I do? I am an anonymous voice on the phone. So I am reaching out to you, who read this to be a reminder, that there may be someone you love, or someone you know such as a neighbor or friend in need. They may never tell you, but they will tell me, an anonymous voice on the phone. Signed, Anonymous
